If someone were taking their son out west,Wyoming,Utah,etc..does anyone have any suggestions on good places to go and stay? We're taking 2 weeks off in a few weeks, his teachers love that, but want him to see the country and experience the wildlife and beauty that make up this country. We may go as far as Washington and Oregon, but at this times it lloks like Nevada and WY.

Preferably camping or cabins with access to fishing,etc...Thanks....sorry for not knowing where to post

Southwest Colorado (esp. Ouray and Silverton area) is awesome. You can rent jeeps and travel some awesome trails, gives you a great idea of how rugged mountains can be. You could make a loop through southeast Utah (cool scenery) and then up to Yellowstone over to Crazy Horse and Mount Rushmore (all are great national treasures).

If you're coming all the way out here and you've never been to Yellowstone or seen the Tetons, you might want to look into that possibility. It's like no other place on Earth. Rick

If you drive that far and don't go to Yellowstone and the Tetons it would be a sin. I lived in Montana for a couple of years and still miss it. Go to the Gardiner entrance for Yellowstone, drive through the park gate and go until you come across the Gardiner river. They'll be a small parking lot on your left with no markings. An obvious trail down to the river. Hot springs pour into the river there and you can move between water hot enough to scald you to hopping into the ice cold river. Found it after a long, hard day on a bicycle...... It was June and spitting snow.
Also I'm sure you're son would like Custer National Park (may have a different name now?). Devil's Tower is not too far from there.
