Can a Boiler Circulator Pump Past a Stopped Downstream Pump?

I'm thinking about a piping schematic. I was wondering if a boiler circulator pump can pump past a downstream circulaor that is stopped. I'm hoping it can't. Thanks.

Depends on if there is a check valve installed in that circ pump.

yes as long as the pump is orientated in the same direction

With no integrated flow check valves involved you can pump straight through backwards or forwards, just pick one up and run a garden hose through it and see for yourself.

You can't pump backwards through a flow check valve, but pumping forwards through a flow check valve is of course easy.

I pump through 2 pumps and one has a check valve in it . I have an alpha pump in between my two storage systems that runs when there is no call for heat for my zones and my boiler pump is running. And then there is my zone pump that shuts down when my boiler pump is running too , which when a zone opens the main boiler pumps right through that zone pump. When I am heating from storage I actualy have my zone pump pumping water backwards through the booster pump . Honestly you really cant even tell there in there , but I would think it does slow the flow somewhat .
