Can't get much over 400 degrees

my thanks to precaud! I have struggled to keep stovetop temps above 500. Taking coals into two mounds with two 3-4" splits across separated by 3/4 " gap and one on top kitty cornered has my lopi holding temps easily wherever needed. Even over 600!! This is surely the key I had been looking for. Thanks again
