I have a Jotul Castine. The metal rod that adjusts the damper andgoes into the small slot under the fire chamber came unscrewed and fell off. I can’t figure out how to fix it and would be very grateful for any help.

I haven't done this but if I were I would take the two bolts out that hold in the doghouse air cover. This is the rounded piece right in front of the door inside the firebox. This exposes the air control plate. I would imagine you could then reattach the control rod to the sliding plate and screw the nut it back in. check that the lever operates the air control plate and then reattach the doghouse cover.

Hope that is helpful.
