Question:

How does it look or what is meant by catalytic combuster"light off".I'm trying to understand the terminology.

Answer:

They are speaking about the temperature where a reaction starts in the combustor. Once this reaction starts, it is somewhat self-sustaining and can then occur are even lower temperatures. Depending on other factors, and example might be that a combustor "lights off" at 600 degrees F, but afterwards can sustain a reaction down to 400 F.
