does anyone know where to buy the ceramic glass for a quad 4300 step top other than the local quadrafire dealer?$162.00 and change seems a bit high.thanks.

Call around local glass shops and see if they stock Robax or Pyroceram, essentially the same stuff but different makers.
It's still fairly expensive though. Another thing to consider is that the 4300 has a curved top edge. If you still have the original glass trace it out on cardboard or oaktag so that the glass company will have a template to work from.
