    My buddy in Elkins, WV (which is 2 1/2 hrs from me) is getting locust slabs for $5 per pickup load from a local saw mill. There's also oak and other hardwoods. I guess if I lived near there I wouldn't be advertising it.

    If you have a truck and trailer or rent a trailer at that price it may be worth driving there to get some.

    Hey for 5 buck a PU load that's a good deal for hardwood slabs...you're talking about chunk wood that doesn't have to be cut. right? If I had a mill around us that did that I'd give up cutting...well there is a mill but it's all soft wood.

    I think the pieces are roughly 6-8 ft long, so they would have to be cut but not split.
