Picked up 8 bags of Cheat river yesterday to add some weight to truck for drive home thinking there would be more snow on the road. Just dumped a bag in the hopper this is what they look like WTF.

Wild rice! I picked up two bags from TSC in November and thought they were HOT. They were all the same color. A week later I grabbed a dozen more. These burned just OK and looked mixed like yours.

I tried 2 bags of Cheats from Lowes last week and did not look like yours. Went yesterday and got a ton of Presto's. Liked them better.

No biggie, The die just got a little too hot. Too little moisture in the fiber or over feed the die some. The dark ones will have more BTU's as they don't have as much moisture content as the lighter ones.

    Let em rip!

Tried Cheat River a couple of weeks ago. They burned OK, even though they were a little ashy. They had some dark pellets in the 6 bags that I purchased. I ended up buying a ton of them and they also have some dark pellets in them. They burn hot enough but like I said, they are ashy. I also have Turmans and have run into the same dark pellets with them. Don't hurt them and they burn hot!!!

I've burnt 7 bags of cheat rivers and while they are ok for the price (188/ton) they don't burn as hot as green label lignetics or omalleys. This has been my experience. Ash is average, so is dust in bag. The pellets I had generally were darker.

Update burned 4 bags heat was fine no issues, ash was caking up on edge of burn pot, I just scraped it off into ash bin.
Today temps rise house is warm lets clean the stove almost a month since last clean [ stove performing fine :)] look in the ash bin and this is what I find. This Chit is hard and heavy like molten metal holy crap Batman! I don't think this is good. These are major ass clinkers. My stove was able to handle it , I wouldn't want to put a steady diet of these through it. I know some stoves are more pellet sensitive you my want to stay away from these if you open up a bag and it looks the the pic in my 1st post, burnt black pellets, or wild rice mix, take them back. ;ex This is a bad batch. Just a heads up to every body.

    Clean stove burning SET's

Burnt over a ton of cheat so far, on higher settings ash is ok, lower settings lot of ash, no wild rice mix seen, just a few long pellets and no surprises in burn pot like will711
