Chimney balloon to stop air flow?

My damper was removed or fell off over the years and I need to stop the heat loss.

Any recommendations? Chimney balloon? Anyone use one of these?
 
Yea, That's a good plan. As soon as I can afford to, I shall. But for now, I got to keep some more of this oil heat in the house!
 
Stuff it with insulation. If you want it reall tight stuff with insulation and cut a square piece of sheet metal to silicone to the top of your flue tile. If you want a functional fireplace then go with a top sealing damper.
 
The balloons sound like a good idea to me. I've never seen one, but the idea is good and you really aren't out anything but the $'s if it doesn't work.
