We noticed that there are times when smoke from our woodstove exhausting from our chimney on the 2nd floor drafts down outside to the ground floor and enters any windows that might be partially open.

Any recommendations/advice?

Thank you!

That's just the nature of the atmosphere some days. Usually, this is only a problem during start-up when there is smoke exiting the chimney. Maybe you are running the stove a bit too cool? Perhaps giving it a bit more air will help clear up the smoke issue as once things are rocking and rolling in the stove (10-15 mins after loading) you shouldn't see or smell much coming from the chimney.

Another thought, how old is your stove's cat? Still performing like it used to?

Shut the windows.

When you say chimney is "on" the 2nd floor::
Out thru the wall on the 2nd floor??
Is the top of the stack above the apex of the roof line?
A Picture may help folks here help.
