Chimney Soot from last year

Before I brush the chimney I tape a plastic bag to the cleanout on the bottom. The soot from my chimney drops down into a plastic bag while I brush. I think that there was about a coffee can or a bit more.

The soot itself was shiny black. It brushed right out and when I was done the liner was ready for another winter.

Last winter I burned about 1 1/2 cord of oak in the Jotul 602. It burns plenty hot.

Here's to another winter of cozy wood stove fires.
