Is aluminum flashing ok for making a top plate around my liner? I've got some rock wool type insulation packed up there and the rain cap, but still need to get some sheet metal covering up the rest of the flue.
 
I don't see why it would be a problem, though I would think with the prices of SS caps already made it wouldn't be worth the hastle.
