Burning Hunk

Hello everyone. My neighbor would like to put a wood stove in. He is heating about 1500 square feet. Budget is 3000 for the stove alone. He does want an enamel finish preferably in red or green. Any ideas? He is completely new to burning. I'm pretty sure he wants non cat.
Thanks in advance

Jotul is the first to come to mind - depending on colors. Quadrafire makes some cast enameled units, but I think they are only in a brown-type.

Generally, it's best to visit some of the dealers within a close radius of where he lives - so he can see what they carry and service.

HearthStone has a nice cast stove in a shade of green

Vermont Castings should also have some, but the company has been "iffy" over the last number of years - was just taken over by an actual team of people (as opposed to venture money), so things should be improving.

For a more modern look Pacific Energy is supposed to come out with the Neo 2.5 soon: http://www.pacificenergy.net/products/wood/stoves/neo-25/
Then there is also the Hampton H300 but it is a rather small stove (although it says large in the website).
The Lopi Leyden is available in red enamel but reviews of the stove here are mixed.
The Napoleon 1400 is available in brown enamel finish: http://www.napoleonfireplaces.com/products/1400c-wood-burning-stove/

Did you already educate your neighbor about the importance of using seasoned wood in any modern stove?

I have the Hampton H300 & I like the stove but it's not an overnight stove in my opinion . I heat about 1100 sq ft with it . Where the stove is going ( size of hearth ) may play a role as well .
