Call quick, it wont last long. I am up to almost 3 cords of free wood from Craigslist in a just bit over 2 months of collecting. There are ads for free firewood nearly everyday. I turned away 2 truck loads of pine this weekend .I am seeing a lot of oak come my way, and need to use my limited space wisely. I do have almost a cord of pine and real Deodar Cedar for kindling, and some N.American Red Cedar, that is technically not actually cedar, but just as well. I use an app for Android ,CraigsNotifica. I sends an alert to my phone within 20 minute. Short of staring at the free listings all day, it is the best option. Even so, I am only successful about 50% of the time.

Mr A, you just convinced me to get a smartphone. (I was _probably_ going to get one anyway). Does it send you CL listings that have certain keywords?

Around here, usually "free wood' means "please come cut down our tree" or "Come take the 500lb chunks of our old cottonwood that the tree guy left behind" so this ad is a nice find. If I needed the wood, I wouldn't post it on here :)

I have the same app on my Droid. (Craiglist Notification).

Yes, it searches by "Keyword" also. If you enter "firewood", it will send you a message with ANY posting that has Firewood in it. Whats best, is you can pick not just one region, but several. I have several searches that search 4 local areas (Cleveland, Akron, Mansfield, Sandusky).

So your area can be broadened and your results for finding something you really want, improve greatly. I love it. Along with the ebay and Amazon apps.. Makes purchases super fast and super easy.

That's really neat. Response time is key with CL, even for buying things sometimes.

Back when I had stuff to buy on Ebay, I used to use a sniping tool, but I can't recall which one. That saved me a lot of lost sleep, money and stress.

Yes it does. I pick the listing category and keywords. There are several apps I used a few and Craigs Notifica seemed the be the quickest alert.

That's really cool. I'll use that one, then, when the time comes. Thanks.
