My stove vents out the top, and straight up, other than pulling up the sliding piece of smoke pipe, is there another way to clean the top?

Mine has 2 firebricks in the baffle you could take out one and use a SootEater. http://www.sooteater.com/
I believe the new ones can be cleaned from inside and the old ones need to have the pipe disconnected. We have the old ones.
