I am about 7 years ahead on my wood so I am in a position to be picky on what I keep. Around here you can't give pine away so I have to either push it in a ditch or burn it in. I try to clean up the dead trees around the house and the water just because it looks better. Saturday we pulled several loads out of the woods and burned them.
BTW, I noticed that the Red Maple is already blooming. That is surprising considering we still have some cold weather ahead of us.

Man I'd be using all that pine in my syrup evaporator! As Ralphie said I hate to see it go to waste but you gotta do what you gotta do......
and by the way, I'm with Dave, where IS the beer and hotdogs? You can't have a good bonfire without that kinda stuff!!

Not too surprising about the maples that far south. Woody even posted a picture of crocus flowers in bloom already and he is in Indiana.

a handful of daffodils were blooming 4 weeks ago - actually had snow on them (rare occasion)
The lupines I gave the GF last V-day are up and blooming in the past couple weeks
Crocus shoots are up but haven't seen any buds yet.
It's the nature of the southern winter when you get a few days in the 70's and back to the upper 30's the next day.
I sure do miss the 30" snow storms in february....not

It is a custom rack and I use it more than any of my other implements.
We did have a pic-nick lunch and enjoy the fire for awhile.
