Have used extraordinaire standard fireplace for over 9 years. This year, when it turned cold, I noticed cold air coming from the top vent where heated air is emitted when the fireplace is hot. I expect a small amount of cold air but this draft seemed much stronger than in previous years. Any ideas why this is happening?

Hm, wondering if there is a strong wind on that side of the house? Check outside and make sure that the intake covers are still in place.

The blower that feeds the air to the vents on the fireplace is outside the house somewhere. It has a flapper that opens when the blower is turned on. Sounds like it's stuck open.
