I have a us stove 6100 furnace in the basement that i use for my main source of heat throughout the winter. How often should I change my cold air return furnace filter? I have used the regular cheap filters and they get black pretty quick. Also anyone have any suggestions on a better filter? Or is it even worth it to buy a better filter or just change them more often?

Normally during the heating season, you should change the filter every thirty days. Pleated filters may last longer, but they also filter out more crud.
