I noticed on the package of the Condar probe thermometer I just purchased that it says it's rated 4000 hours... Has practical experience reflected this? That really doesn't seem like a very long time for a $40 thermometer...

I would have expected to see more issues (here) with this thermometer if that is real life expectancy.

Sounds like a cya or warranty denial trick.

I believe I will know when and if it fails. So far I’m at almost 15 years of full time heating. It’s pretty quick to react, returns to the same zero, enamel face in great shape. It’s been solid.
