Question:

I am converting my wood burning fireplaces, three of them, to gas logs. I also want a remote or a wall switch. But I am concerned that the controls take up too much room and are very visible and unsightly.

Is there a vented log set that looks best with the remote application?

Also I've heard different opinions about burners. some brands have three burners and claim the most realistic look, some recommend two and some recommend one. Which is best and why?

Answer:

Let your eyes be the judge. All burners use baffles, sand and other tricks to spread the flame out, so it's not as simple as one, two or three burners. Also, different units use different amounts of gas, so this may be a consideration. You should see the logs BURNING in a retail store...NOT just set up in a home center, etc. - This way you are certain of just what you are getting.

It's safer to stay with well-know brand names..companies that have been in business for a number of years with good warranty and good dealers.
