Been wondering what these are? Got a feeling sugar maple and ash? Thoughts?

Need more pictures than that. Need end grain and split open pieces.

Cottonwood in Massachusetts? Really. I thought it was Ash, Green ash but the center ring does make me really think about it. I don't know what kind of leaves the tree had.
 
I think cottonwood for the 2nd also. The thick triangular bark is a dead giveaway.

I could see hard maple for the 1st, but would feel much better if I could see a bud from a branch.

No idea on the 3rd.

That third one looks like a conifer. Maybe a pine, maybe Hemlock. does it smell piney?
