Nice forum.

The 2 year-old Oslo has 2 cracks in the cast: one in the lower left outside corner of the bottom plate, another in the top rear behind the cooktop.
Both probably our fault from starting fires with the ash door cracked (DON'T do it ! ). Now we know :) .

Is there a Service Manual or simple instructions for replacing and/or taking the Oslo down for replacing parts ? Anyone do it ? Call Jotul ? Dealer ?

Thanks.

Greetings BF, sorry to hear about the cracks. It sounds like your stove will need a complete teardown for the base replacement. Most stoves including Jotuls come apart fairly easily, but its important to do it in the right sequence. After pulling the top, there are usually 4 corner bolts holding the vertical sections together. Take pictures at every step of dis-assembly and some notes so that you can reverse procedure when reassembling. And yes, contact your dealer for assistance and a service manual.

Can you take some pictures of the current damage and post them here?

Yup. Even the owner's manual states you should not start fires with the ash door cracked open.

Sorry to hear about this Brother Fire . . . hopefully JotulGuy or another member associated with Jotul will be along shortly to give you some added advice.

Perhaps your post may serve as a warning to others about the dangers of not starting the fire with the ash pan open . . .

Finally, welcome to the forum.
