Burning Hunk

Was out cutting over the weekend while hunting and what we thought was a downed beech turned out to be something entirely different..bark looked very similar , smooth grey. My uncle who was with me says its mountain magnolia and another family member called it cucumber wood. I am not familiar with either. It is a very lightweight wood which im certain will burn pretty fast so ill tuck it to the side for this spring. Has anyone had experience burning this wood before?

I've seen a few cucumber magnolias (Magnolia acuminata) planted in the landscape in Massachusetts, as are a number of southern Appalachian plants. I believe they're relatively fast-growing trees, so I'd expect lighter, faster-burning wood. Good find though - goes to show you can learn something new in the woods every day.
