Their hardwood pellets are not great pellets......barely shoulder season, at best. Their softwood have gotten good reviews.

I have burned the "Northern Pellets" that are sold by Lowes, and are just re-bagged Curran hardwood.....yuck.

I've burned three of theirs - hardwood, softwood and Northern - or North American, whatever, from HD.

I have burned 12 tons of Curran's in the last two seasons and they were just fine in my PB 105. Ten of the softwood hardwood blend and two of the hardwood only. There is no direct relationship between burn temperature and heat output in any fuel including wood pellets. A pound of dry wood fiber will produce about 8200 Btus of heat energy when it burns in a pellet stove. The temperature of the flame is not relavant. The wood can be hard or soft, it matters little. I measured the ash from the hardwood softwood blend by the Curran's and I found that the dry ash weighed just on eight pounds, or 0.4% by weight. They fed well, were low in ash, low in fines, shipped in a well wrapped pallet and the bags were of a good sturdy plastic able to be handled without tearing.

I've burned Curran softwoods for the past 2 seasons in my Harman P61a and agree with SmokeEater - low ash/fines, burned completely and well packaged.
Compared to the other brand I've burned, Barefoot, less ash & stove is not as dirty when cleaning it. No difference in heat output between the Currans & Barefoots.

Just bought 3 tons for $660 delivered.. They sell them directly across the street from me, slid them into the garage right to my basement steps..
Will likely buy another ton next week

Just signed up for 3 tons , $845 taxes in,but I have to pick them up:mad: . will top up in January .

I have burned both the blends and soft and can honestly say the softs are my favorite and if I have my way that is what will be burning in the harman this season for the simple fact of low low ash and fines and pure heat that I get out of them. The blends are ok but as with any hdwd pellet you get the ash and buildup on stove so I prefer the soft ,the bags on the currans are the best I have ever seen out of all the pellets brands I have used...

WOW! $234 for the softwood is is wicked good buy.
