damper removal

Hi all, just wondering if anyone knows how to remove these screw type damper control (other then with a saws-all). The damper releases from it with a cotter pin, but to get a liner down I need to get this out of the way. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I guess you hafta decide whether or not you ever wanna return to burning wood in the fireplace.
If not, a sawzall, cutting torches or a BFH will solve the problem.
The damper frame looks to be cast iron & should cut/break easily...
