Dead Standing

After grabbing the first ironwood today I headed over to grab this dead standing, turned out to be a basswood tree so I bucked it up and left it for burning in our fireplace this summer.

Sav, I'm set for kindling for sometime. This is that big basswood that was down I bucked up then split and still have most of it split and stacked in the woods.

The area I live in is called Basswood Grove by the neighbors so we have alot of basswood. I cut it and then I slab it in 4" thick slabs and then dry it under shelter for a few years then I sell it to woodcarvers. I make a few $ for my tool maintenance. I use the off cuts for shoulder season heating and some kindling. Basswood is not all bad. Wood duck carvers love basswood
