Well, just as in years past, it seems the early spring around here produces a bit more snow than expected. Either that or the older I get, the more easier I'm fed up with winter and get disgusted.

Any way, we got about 8" overnight from Sat. to Sun. On the return from church, the snow had stopped and you could see a dusting of a red/brown color over all of the new snow. It was a south south/west wind that pushed the snow into the area, and was just curious as to what and where the dirt(?) could have been picked up...everything around here has snow cover.

Did anyone in northern or central Wis. notice this? Minn?

Hang on Dave. Winter is not over yet. Sounds like the dust from the mines.

I watched the "local" news this evening (130 miles away) and they said it was from a dust storm in the plains. Then they showed a map of Texas and New Mexico. I guess it originated from there.
So explains the colored snow.

Yellow & brown, don't eat. Everything else, go to it.
