Does anyone ever "exercise" their heating system?

No frozen pipes.

And yes . . . I exercise the system before heading away in the winter to be sure things are in working order . . . the boiler also kicks on occasionally throughout the winter from time to time . . . when it does kick on we tend to notice it as we hear that unfamiliar sound in the background and smell the dust burning off the radiators. I also occasionally kick on the boiler a few times when we get several days of sub-zero weather just to keep things moving and things heated up.
