should i get my tanks up to temp and then stop the wood boiler from circulating? i think when then boiler cools down it brings the tank temp down. i was going to add a three way zone valve to devert the boiler water back to the boiler without going thru the tanks once the tanks hit temp.

The differential is the issue. Once the tank is warmer than the boiler, then you want to stop circulation.

Solar controllers are great for that.
