I have had my stove for about 7-8 years now, and the fiberglass 'gasket' that seals between the door and the stove is the original one. it looks pretty squished on one side, so I am wondering if I should replace it. Thing is, I have a good burn, and no smoke smell in the house.

Close the door with a dollar bill trapped between the stove and the door all the way around the door. If when you try to pull the bill out there is some resistance then the gasket is fine. There is no time schedule on door gasket changes. Mine are eight hard burning seasons old and still seal fine.

most times a door gasket will not "release" smoke as pellet stoves operate under negative pressure with the draft blower "pulling" air through, its my opinion that under most normal operation "fair wear and tear" lifespan of most low to medium density door gaskets is about 5 seasons or so.
if your door handle operates in a circular movement and normally is angled downward a god rule of thumb is as it approaches "6 o'clock" its time to replace as they will eventually compress to the point where gravity will work to loosen the seal rather than tighten it
