Downdraft Problem

If your pipe doesn't extend high enough out of your roof it'll down draft, especially when the stove is burning slow. I think the spec is two feet higher than the section of roof within ten feet away. Check your stove manual to be sure. I had that problem on my house when the wind blew NE and bought an additional 3 foot section of SS pipe just to be sure. No problems since regardless of how hard the wind blows or from which direction. Hope that helps.
 
Downdraft can be caused by too short of a chimney,
a chimney in a location where it's lower than the buildings
around it or even by trees near it that are higher.
The wind will hit the higher objects & hit your chimney in a downward direction.
You'll have to decide which situation is causing your problem,
before you can decide on a method to correct it.
