    Corey,

Hows the front glass doing ,does it get dirty?
Some on this board report having to clean fairly regular, some clean the window rarely , some report all they ever get is a light coating the can brush off.
Guess all depends on the wood and how your operating the stove.

The draw of the flue dictates how much air is being sucked thru the stove, you can control it some with the primary air control but the secondaries are wide open so as that as the flue heats up the suction is higher. Some people tweak their stove operation with a manual flue damper. Some have reported getting their stove top temps to heat up hotter by closing the manual flue damper 1/4 turn as that indicates too much air is being sucked thru the stove by an unusually strong draft causing heat to be wasted up the flue.

Have you checked the door gaskets as well ? Put a dollar bill in the door and close it then pull if it slides out easily your doors need to be tightened. The size of splits also makes a big difference smaller splits equals more gas in the stove which equals too much gasifier your not careful. You can over fire it easy with small splits so mix some larger ones in if that is what was causing it.

Oak can take up to 3 years to season. That may be the issue.
