Looking thru the posts I see that the best seasoning for hardwoods is 2 years. What about softwoods which are lighter and therefore should dry quicker?

I am asking because I have room for a season and a quarter-if that makes sense? Will burn 12 month fir up till Jan. then burn wood that has an extra 4 (winter) months in the sheds to season. But that extra 4 months is winter-time seasoning. Maybe doesn`t count?

And am I correct that 9-12 months is ample for softwoods?

If the wood has good ventilation that usually works for me with NW softwoods.
