Welcome. What is the age of this stove? Have you tried calling the factory in Auburn? (253) 735-1100? If you do please let us know what they say.

Yes i called and left a message i will notify u all on what they say.it has a manufacture date of 1989

I contacted them and they said it was a boost air damper for getting the fire going initially. and close it after the fire gets going. thanks for the help begreen
