I have a Hearthstone Clydesdale insert and love it. Have always wanted to try one of the ecofans, that sit on top of a stove and the heat causes them to run with no electricity. Has anyone tried one on the Clydesdale? Looks like it would have to sit on the ash shelf, since there is no flat "top" on the insert that would work. Was wondering if the door glass would radiate enough heat to run the fan, as the ash self does not seem to get as hot as a regular top does.

It would run, likely even be killed by the radiant heat. They can be overheated pretty easily. Is there something wrong with your blower? Eco fans are less than impressive... it's a novelty in my opinion.

Nothing wrong with the blower, just always wanted to try the eco. Looks like its quiet and power free, plus its another toy!
I had one, I'm very glad it was free... It was not impressive.
