I got one of these for the holidays, and it is pretty cool.

It requires no electricity and it gets going around 185º. I have noticed that it makes a difference spreading out the heat, as I can actually feel it move. It is super quite (you can't even hear it), and it is easy to move out of the way to load the stove. It doesn't help me get the heat up the stairs, but it sure is a lot warmer when laying with the dog on the carpet than it was!
