Efel Kamina stove

I bought a house with a 30 year old Efel wood stove. A handle on the right had side opens and closes the damper. Right now it is at a right angle.
Anyone know which position means the damper is open.

If you are talking about the pipe damper, the damper should be facing the same way as the damper handle, which can be verified by watching the fire. There is also an inlet air control on the side door or below it (I think)....
