Question:

I own a jotul 118 stove (a model which have the same door as the epa proven jotul 602). Is the efficiency of this model 118 up to the modern standards?



Answer:

The 118's efficiency is very dependent on the wood, chimney and operator. However, a stove such as this can burn as high as 60% efficient, which is not too far below the cleaner stoves of today (65-75%).
However, the stove does not meet EPA standards....
