Having some issues with ash building up towards the front of the burn plate. Eventually builds up having a huge mound of ash and embers. Still air flowing thru the plate but limited. I noticed after looking the burn pot over the burn plate holes are just drilled out sporadic, some even 1/8in within the other. As the holes move out further of the plate(towards glass)the holes start to become spaced out and symmetric.

Any ideas here on the build-up and burn plate holes?

Thanks.

privateuser does it look like air is being drawn down the auger tube? If so you have an air leak, could be the hopper, the auger gasket or bearings.

Marty, as per your owners manual, the PDV (and the little sister PDVC) both require that the door be opened once a day and the burn pot "plate" be scraped clean.

P. 4 of the owners manual:

7. Regularly inspect the burn pot area and, if any crust forms, remove it with a poker.
8. The ash in the burn pot should be removed regularly, depending on your burn rate. The area to the right and left of the burn pot is for ash storage; keep the air holes in the burn pot clean for a more efficient burn."

Also, from P. 13:

Daily Ash Maintenance
Press the “OFF†touch pad and allow the stove to burn for five (5) minutes prior to opening the
door. A long-handled screwdriver or long-handled putty knife can be used to scrape off any build-up
or crust in the burn pot area. This can then be pushed to the left or right into the ash storage area.

Also, make sure that there is no ash build-up under the wear plate...that will restrict airflow.
