Famous 200 year old Ohio tree ... gone

The tree that was featured at the end of the movie Shawshank Redemption blew apart in a storm. Had suffered a crack in 2011 but recent storm took it out... When we rewatched the movie recently, I remember thinking that was one big tree!

Great movie - impressive tree. I have had the luck (or maybe privilege) of working up several trees of the same vintage and size. Oak trees of that size are massively heavy.

Makes you wonder, what trees are we planting right now, which in 200 years, will be famous. That tree was once a little sapling, just trying to not get trampled.
