Like new. Runs great!
5.5 HP Briggs engine.
2" Ball Hitch. Very portable.

Always starts on the second pull.
Always keep the oil changed and filter clean.

Fair deal . . . not a killer deal.

Based on the pics it looks like it has been kept pretty well . . . other than not slapping down some oil on the beam . . . and that's usually not a real issue.

i figure, the worst that it will need is new hydraulic seals in a few years. which is fine by me as i can repair that myself.
i need a splitter fairly bad, as my pile of rounds is growing exponentially. now i just need to find a way to secure the wood as its in a urban environment with many wood burners....
game camera and a sign saying "smile you are on camera" should work. plus the lot it is stored on only has one entry point which will be chained off as well. if they want to carry the wood out by hand... so be it
lol

21 ton should be able to split all but a few rounds that are full of knots?

That is about as clean as a 10 yr old splitter can be. I agree with Jake - fair deal. Go for it, if you need it.

I'd offer him $450.00 cash money, and go from there. I think you could get him down a little. I bought a 1yr old Swisher 22 ton splitter that was used only twice and paid only $800.00 for it. Still had the shipping tags on the engine!

Whip out 5-$100 bills, about 50% of a new one ;)

I like to start at fifffthy and its doing nothing! :) Seems to losen them up a bit. Oh and dont keep a stright face on this one, kinda like a simi-stink eye "If you will" For a lack of a better word. ;)

+2
Better built & designed than the new ones, IMO.
Looks to be in good shape.

I have an MTD 21 ton Gols... And I have split about 15-16 cord in the last 18 months with mine (new 18 months ago). Never had a hiccup.

Mine looks a little different. little bigger tires and has fenders (and its black).

People around here are stupid with used splitters. That would go for $900 all day long when you can get a brand new Huskee for 100 more. Same thing with utility trailers. I don't get it.

Here are some gems. My back hurts just looking at them.

Those big tires probably roll around real nice. And the IH hubcaps are cool too. I think that you should pay less for a $1000 ten year old machine. $500-$600, but not nearly $700.

That splitter is almost a twin to splitters that zap, BrotherBart and I have. Mine, and I think zap's, are 22 ton with 5 hp B&S engine. I've had ours over 20 years and it has been trouble free except it now uses some oil. Oil is still cheaper than metal! I know for sure we've split well over 200 cord of wood with ours.

Conclusion, get it if the price is right.
