i installed my stove about 2 years ago... it will all depend on your local code and the stove requirements.. what you are looking for is stove clearance and clearance to combustible ( ie sheetrock ). i used brick for my hearth. my local code required i have 1" airspace behind the brick ( between brick and wall ( combustible ) ) . my stove required 8" to the brick. Hope that helps
