fireplace damper replacement

The damper broke on my masonry fireplace . I had one guy come by and said he could replace it for $600 and it would take him only half a day. This seems pretty high to me as looking at costs for a damper I see them for $99 and he said he would do it in half a day. Does it seem high to you?
