With the current wait time on wood burning inserts, I've found a Forester 4507 insert that I am considering installing for this season and then install a new one for next season.

Does anyone know anything about it? It looks older, but overall in good condition. The owner knows little other than the model #.

I can't seem to find anything online about it. Any knowledge would be helpful.

Sounds like an old insert. Do you know the flue outlet size? Modern inserts take a 6" liner, this may take larger. Do you have any pictures?

i'm sure it's probably at least 20 years old, if not more. it has the rectangle outlet. Please find the pictures above. It looks very well taken care of, they said it could handle 20" logs. Other than that, I know nothing

It certainly looks substantial and in good condition. I'm guessing it is from the early 80s. It will need a large rectangle to round flue adapter with a notch made for the bypass rod, set up for an 8" liner, though it might work on a 2 story 6" liner.
The grate is unusual. Looks like something from a coal stove.

That stove is for sale near me personally I think the price is a little high especially for a pre epa stove. I just sold a 94 model Lopi Freedom for $400. I have talked to the guy who is selling this before he is very knowledgeable about stoves particularly pre epa stoves. The Ash pan is fairly rare for an insert but like begreen said it looks like something for coal. I believe Forester is owned by or at least bought out by US Stove Company.
