I know of a free walnut tree that is free for the felling and take away. It is in Centre County, PA, in the State College area. The owner wants it done soon since they are installing a swimming pool
 
Geez, if this is a decent tree, somewhat should look into the lumber value of it before it gets cut into cordwood. That there's prized lumber ya know..could be worth some moola.
 
Yeah, Black walmut is real scarce really and it is up there in the mbf column
 
We've discussed that before though guys. Generally the mills aren't interested in yard trees because of the higher likelihood of "hidden treasure" within the tree. Hooks, nails, etc are usually in yard trees that aren't found in the open woods. I know from my limited wood cutting years that the yard trees i've gotten almost always have a few dark spots in them and a few surprises.
