Ok, here is my recipe for logs. First, the paper wrapped ones:

Take a full sheet of newspaper, folded like a closed book, and begin rolling it around the pvc with at least an inch hanging off of the end. Make sure you have enough pvc uncovered on the other end to get a good grip to pull it out with later.

Push the excess inside of the pvc and tamp down to create a plug.

Add paper, leave, sawdust, coffee ground or whatever burnable you like and lightly tamp. Tamping too hard will make the pvc impossible to remove.

Once full turn the whole thing over with tamp in place, grip the plug end to hold it secure and pull down on the pvc to remove it.

Then simply fold the excess newspaper over the end to seal.

To make one with a paper towel roll simply tamp a piece of paper inside to make a plug and then fill as before and crimp the ends shut.

And here are what the finished products look like. The paper towel rolls are much denser because you dont have to worry about removing pvc. Think of them as your hardwood.2012-12-07_16-59-39_437.jpg

Recycling . Love it :)

Many years ago in WV, a neighbor made something similar,
then he soaked them in a bucket of kerosene for fire starters.

I use wax and sawdust poured into egg cartons as fire starters. Each carton makes 12 or .

Good find on the wood Jacktheknife. Pretty cool on the paper logs thingy also. What kind of stove are you burning in?

I've got a Lopi Answer, it's an early epa.

FYI, I just rolled a fatty!
