Asbestos all over that article.
 
Yes, the information sounds like an article from the 70's that got copied. Still, basically sound advice but replace the asbestos with a more suitable non-combustible like cement board, metal, etc..
 
agreed fellas...that is an old article, I believe you can probably get a more modern version of clearances and such with a google search.....got the chills seeing all those "A" words in that article....lol...
 
Says the article was "reviewed" as of 2008. They need to fire the reviewer. Some of it's way outdated. Some of it's lifted right out of NFPA 211. Some of it's folk lore. Finding useful information in that article is like an Easter Egg hunt. Rick
