i have a set of gas logs i'm giving away, and i evidently leaned against the rear log and it broke the ends off. can i use permatex ultra black silicone that's rated at 500 degrees fahrenheit? i couldn't find what temperature gas logs burn at using google, so i figured i'd ask since i have some of this permatex on hand that i use on the headers and other parts of my vehicles. thanks.

    are they fibre or cement/
if fiber, some metal rods to connect the piece works ok, silicone wont hold up
