have a vented gas logs fireplace, the pilot light is on, when we flip the electrical switch on the wall to ignite the flames, the fireplace does not start.

looking for info. on how to trouble shoot this issue.

The fireplace worked 8 weeks ago, not sure what happen since then.

Thanks

Could be lots of things.

Weak thermopile
Bad gas valve
Clog in burner injector
Loose wires

Have a pro come check it out.

Note - your unit is new, so there is probably an installation warranty....so you shouldn't have to do anything, but here is the info for folks who want to troubleshoot this stuff:
Could be as simple as a bad switch.

Assuming you are comfortable with basic troubleshooting and repair, the order i would go in....
(this assumes the unit is millivolt - if it is 110 volt, then you should get a service call!)...

1. First take a small piece of wire and jump the two terminals where the switch wire connects to the gas valve.
If this make the fire light,
then it is one of three things
a. the wire to the switch
b. the switch
c. The thermopile or thermocouple, not generating enough millivolts to make it through the loop - in that case, the unit may work with a jumper, but will not work from afar.

That should help you get started. If the jumper works, second step is take the wall switch apart and jump the terminals on that. Again, if this is `110 volt, then you should not fool with it unless you are comfortable with house wiring, etc.
