Hi,
I have a gas stove that hasn't been starting. Sometimes it will no problem, other times it won't? No consistency at all. Used to be I clicked it to on and it would come on, but not this year. Any ideas what might be causing this? Appreciate any help, thanks.

The pilot in your gas stove serves two functions. It lights the main burner and it heats a safety, called a pilot generator or thermopile, to prevent the main burner from opening in the event the pilot has gone out. Over time, the pilot generator gets weak from carbon buildup, cracks, distortion, dirty pilot flame, etc. and will produce enough current to hold the pilot, but, not enough to operate the main burner. This is the most likely cause, but, it could be a poor connection in the switch/wire to the valve operator, also. Contact your gas supplier or a qualified gas technician to come and service your stove. It's a good idea to have it serviced every couple of years anyway so it will be dependable and in the process, they will make it look like it did when it was new for you.

Get an annual service done by a qualified tech. As the name suggests most manufactures recommend getting them cleaned every year just like your furnace. It really keeps like looking and working like new if you get it serviced every year.
